Does The Canon Rebel T5i (700D) Have WiFi?

The Canon EOS Rebel T5i (also known as the EOS 700D) does not have built-in WiFi.

It also does not have Bluetooth and NFC capabilities so there are no wireless features on the Canon Rebel T5i.

This means that you will not be able to just change a setting on the camera to allow you to connect your T5i to your phone or computer through WiFi, Bluetooth or NFC.

However, there are some workarounds that exist to enable WiFi and there are some similar cameras to the T5i (700D) that do have WiFi…

Alternative Cameras That Do Have Built-In WiFi

The Canon Rebel T5i (Canon EOS 700D) was released in 2013 without any wireless features.

However, the newer Canon Rebel T8i (Canon EOS 850D) which was released in 2020 does have wireless features.

The Canon Rebel T8i is the most recent version of Canon’s ‘Rebel T x i’ series and the T8i is also known as the Canon EOS 850D in international markets.

The Canon Rebel T8i (850D) comes with WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC. This means that you can use the T8i to connect wirelessly to your phone or computer easily.

If you want something a bit more affordable than the T8i, you should check out the Canon T7i (released in 2017 a few years before the T8i) which also has WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC.

How To Connect Canon Rebel T5i (700D) To WiFi

As we said earlier there is no built-in WiFi on the T5i, but there are some workarounds if you really need to have some sort of WiFi capability on your T5i.

The method of doing this is to use a WiFi adapter for your Canon Rebel T5i and there are different types of WiFi adapters that you can use.

Third-Party WiFi Adapters

You can use brands such as CamRanger which have WiFi adapters that work with many DSLRs from different brands.

The CamRanger, CamRanger Mini and CamRanger 2 are all WiFi adapters that work with the Canon Rebel T5i (700D).

You simply plug the CamRanger into the USB port on your Rebel T5i and the CamRanger will create its own WiFi connection which you can use to connect to your phone or computer.

There are also other similar brands online that provide a similar product. One example is CamFi.

Canon’s Own WiFi Adapters

The Canon W-E1 adapter is an SD card WiFi adapter.

You might have seen online that you can use the Canon W-E1 to enable WiFi on the Rebel T5i (700D), but this is not true.

We did some research and the Canon W-E1 adapter is only listed as being compatible with the following Canon cameras:

  • EOS 7D Mark II
  • EOS 5DS
  • EOS 5DS R

As you can see the Rebel T5i is not listed as being compatible with the Canon W-E1 adapter.

SD Card WiFi Adapters like Eye-Fi

You can purchase SD card WiFi adapters which are sometimes called Eye-Fi cards. Eye-Fi is a brand that has created SD cards that can be used to communicate wirelessly.

These Eye-Fi cards are pretty slow and the company also went out of business in 2016, so you might struggle to get one of these.

Although that’s not really a bad thing because they are notoriously slow, so they are not really worth using anyways.

Conclusion

You should now know that the Canon Rebel T5i does not have built-in WiFi capabilities but there are some workarounds and alternative cameras that do have built-in WiFi.
