When Was The Canon EOS Rebel SL3 Released?
The Canon EOS Rebel SL3 (250D), was released in April 2019.
At the time of writing this post in early 2023, the Canon Rebel SL3 is NOT discontinued. In fact, neither is the SL2…yet.
If you’re reading this in 2023 and wondering whether you should buy the Rebel SL3 then don’t worry, it’s still a decent camera for beginners.
After all, DSLRs can last a long time, and people are using cameras from 10 years ago, let alone as recent as 2019.
To give you a quick overview here are some good things about the SL3:
- It’s got an external mic input
- It has built in wifi so you can control it remotely (amongst other things)
- It can also record in 60fps at 1080p
- You can also use it as a HDMI webcam or USB webcam.

People get confused if you say 250D or SL3 and think of them as two different things…
Are The Canon Rebel SL3 And EOS 250D The Same?
Yes, the Canon EOS Rebel SL3 and EOS 250D are the same camera.
The difference in names is just that the camera has different names in different geographies.
It’s actually also known as the EOS 200D II or the EOS Kiss X10 in other locations.

- Europe – Canon EOS 250D
- Japan – Canon EOS Kiss X10
